Liberty Bike at U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama
by Orange County Choppers

Restoring Liberty: From 1984 to 1986, The Statue of Liberty National Monument underwent a total restoration effort to repair many years of deterioration. The restoration was to be completed in time for Miss Liberty's 100 year anniversary in 1986. Originally entitled "The Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World", by French sculptor Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi, she stands proudly on Liberty Island in New York Harbor. The Liberty Bike is plated in copper preserved from the restoration of the Statue of Liberty National Monument. Nearly every design feature of this motorcycle work of art is inspired by the Statue.
  • The shift lever is crafted from a section of cable that once carried electrical power to light Miss Liberty's torch.
  • The DaVinci designed carburetor is fashioned to resemble Miss Liberty's Torch & lights up when the bike is running.
  • Handlebars symbolize the spikes in Miss Liberty's Crown; and the front fender and rear swing arms captures the appearance of the Statue's interior structure.
