All Groups -- Central Group -- Cavalry -- Artillery -- Details

The entire Ulysses S. Grant Memorial viewed from the west with the US Capitol building in the background. The cavalry group is on the left and the artillery group on the right. Grant sits astride his favorite horse, Cincinnatus, atop a 22 foot marble pedestal. Four lions lie around Grant. The reflecting pool, installed in 1970, enhances this view of the Capitol but, unfortunately, detracts from the Grant memorial and makes it harder to reach as one comes walking east on the mall.
